Spring HS friday league
DLSO High School Friday Night Spring league
The DLSO High School Friday night league was started many years ago to provide an inexpensive opportunity for high school students who were interested in local play without the expense or time commitment that traveling teams must commit to. Players and teams that participate in this league will be registered with US Club as this is a US Club recreational league.
When: Games for the high school spring season are scheduled only on Friday evenings starting with the first Friday in April and running through the last Friday in May. A typical spring season consists of an 8 week season.
Where: Games for this league will take place only in the Rogue Valley at fields that are available locally.
Times: On a Friday game night, the two time slots for games will be 6:30 pm and 8pm.
Teams: Teams are encouraged to be formed with players from within a high school area but are not limited to those areas. From season to season, the number of teams may vary depending on interest level. However, a minimum of 4 teams are required and a maximum of 8 teams are allowed with a preference given to an even number of teams. High school areas can form more than one team if there is enough interest.
Players: Players on high school teams must consist of only high school players or soon-to-be high school players (8th grade players that will be coming into high school). Teams will be registered as boys teams but may include girls. Teams are not required to be mixed teams. Players are not limited to only playing on a team from their high school area. Players cannot be rostered on teams from two different school areas but teams are allowed to share players ONLY if one team is short-handed on any given game night. Players may also be registered on teams that play in other leagues.
Registration: Players and teams must be registered with an established DLSO club in order to play. Players must be on an approved US Club roster from an approved DLSO club that will be presented to game officials on game days. Teams that are not affiliated with a local youth soccer club may request to register with one of the DLSO affiliated soccer clubs by contacting the DLSO high school league coordinator.
Fields: Game fields will be local fields within the Rogue Valley preferably turf fields at a high school or park but may be grass fields if necessary.
Uniform colors: Colors for team uniforms are encouraged to be school colors but, as long as they don’t conflict with other established team colors, they can be any color with approval by the league. Uniform jerseys do not have to have numbers as long as they are the same color for each player on the same team that doesn’t conflict with the opposing teams. There are no restrictions on sock colors within or between teams.
League rules of play:
a. Players on the field will be 9 v 9 with no restriction on the number of players on a given roster. If a team shows up with fewer than 9 players, players can be shared. Teams are encouraged to match the number of field players of teams that don’t have 9 players on a given night.
b. Match duration will consist of two 35-minute halves with a 5-minute halftime.
c. Only one referee will be assigned to officiate the game. Coaches will present the referee with an official printed roster that includes only the properly registered players for that team.
d. Field of play will consist of the area between the two 18 yd lines (about 75 yds) with an adjusted penalty area and a goal area for goal kicks. Full sized goals will be used whenever possible.
e. No slide-tackling will be permitted.
f. Unlimited substitutions will be permitted.
g. Players that receive a yellow card during play must leave the field of play for at least one play. Coaches are encouraged to sit players out until they calm down.
h. Players that receive a red card will be reported to the league director who will issue an appropriate number of game suspensions.
i. Teams are encouraged not to have drastically lop-sided games.
j. All game play decisions by the referee are final. No appeals or petitions will be accepted.
Coaches: Coaches must be registered with a club and pass a background check along with having completed the Got Sport certification requirement set by US Club. They must also appear on the match roster.
